Notes

NOTE: A newer version of Release Management is available with Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2015 Update 2. Release Management features have been integrated into TFS 2015 Update 2 and into the RELEASE hub in TFS web access. The new web-based version is the recommended alternative to the server and client version. For more information, see Release Management for TFS 2015 (Update 2 and above) and VS Team Services.

If you do not already have Release Management installed, we encourage you to use the web-based version in TFS 2015 Update 2 instead of the version described here. If you are already using an earlier server and client version, you may upgrade to the version described here. But, you should be aware that no new features will be added to server and client versions.

This update is the latest in a cumulative series of feature additions and bug fixes for Release Management for Visual Studio 2015.

Release Management for Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 supports you to configure, approve, and deploy your applications for any environment. Create automated deployment orchestrations for each environment, no matter how complex the configuration. Delivering software more frequently and easily to an environment enables testers to get to work validating your system and keeps stakeholders engaged in providing feedback.

Release Management for Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 requires one of the following licenses: Visual Studio Enterprise with MSDN, Visual Studio Enterprise – annual, Visual Studio Enterprise – monthly, Visual Studio Test Professional with MSDN, or MSDN Platforms. For licensing requirements, see the Visual Studio and MSDN Licensing White Paper.
